Investigating the essential roles of Ubiquitin-like molecules and the Ubiquitin Proteasome System

Research Project 10.
Functional connections between protein SUMOylation and reactive oxygen species.

Objectives

The aim is to address the interplay between SUMOylation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and transcription in carcinogenesis, thereby elucidating how ROS-induced deSUMOylation of proteins affects gene expression programs in normal cycling cells, tumorigenesis and resistance to chemotherapies.
